Just Growing

Nothing in particular to report this week, but I thought I would add a couple pictures. We're going to Atlanta (or near Atlanta) for the extended 4th of July weekend to visit friends. We had to get Josephine a life jacket since we will be at the lake. It looks pretty funny. I took some pictures of her in it, but I figure I'll wait until we get back to post any life jacket pictures.

Josephine Update:

• Josephine slept for 11 hours and only woke up once on Saturday night!!! I'm pretty sure it was a fluke, but it was a nice fluke. She hasn't been nearly that conisistent other nights, but she will usually get a 4-hour block of sleep at some point during the night.
• She's working on crawling. She kind of scoots around, but usually backwards. She hasn't figured out how to get up on her knees well yet.
• Josephine is enjoying standing up and walking. She gets better at it everyday.
• I think the only food to add to the list is sweet potatoes, if I even need to add them.

I'm having trouble viewing my guestmap. Is anyone else having trouble? The last post I've seen is from May 15 (I think). I know other people have added since then. I"m working with Bravenet on it. If you are reading this and you haven't added yourself to the guestmap (look to the right of the page for the icon to click on) go ahead and do it now. : )

I'll post again after we come back from Georgia next week. Happy 4th!

Crick in the Neck

I'm so glad Josephine will smile for the camera now. Or at least smile at me when I have the camera in my hand. She loves water -- both to drink and play in.

I slept so long the other night that I got a crick in my neck!!!! Yea!!!! I haven't slept that long in many, many months! It seems the longer I sleep at a time, the harder it is to wake up. Luckily, Josephine will play in her crib for awhile in the mornings (with her bedsheet and the bumper) so I can adjust to consciousness.

Josephine Update:

• As I mentioned before, Josephine is sleeping for longer periods now -- about 4 hours at a time!!! *knock on wood*
• Josephine will walk (usually forwards) slowly when you hold her hands. If she's trying to go somewhere, she'll move faster. She's so proud of herself when she walks.
• As long as her feet are in position, she can pull up on things (usually our hands). This is getting easier for her. She's proud of herself when she does this too.
• Nathan said that she was rolling over from her back onto her stomach last night. She won't do it for me.
• She's big on kisses. She loves it when we kiss her on the cheek. She loves it even more when she kisses us on the cheek. Of course, her kiss is very, very slobbery and open-mouthed. There's usually remnants of either a meal or spit-up. They're lovely. The kisses are aggressive too; she pushes as hard as she can against your cheek or chin, usually pulling on your hair at the same time.
• We can add green beans and carrots to her list of foods. She likes green beans better than carrots. Rice and oatmeal cereals are still her favorites. (I tried a bit of rice cereal the other day -- yuck! It tasted like flour and water paste, just like it should, I guess.)
• Still no teeth (I'm not in the least bit upset about this for more than one reason).
• She takes about half her naps in our bed and the other half in her crib, although I have to rock her if she's not going to sleep in our bed.
  
  
  
  

Outdoor Weekend.

We spent alot of time at the farm this weekend visiting with Aunt Leah. Jospehine enjoyed meeting the cats.

Josephine enjoys playing with balls. She balanced the big purple one on her hands and feet. It was impressive.

Eating solid food is a fun part of the day for Josephine. Cereal is her favorite. She's eaten peas and eggplant, too. I'm going to try squash next, but Im' waiting for her to feel a little better before I do that.

Naomi was awake part of the time we were at the farm and I took this cute picture that I had to share with everyone. She's still so tiny!


13 pounds 11 ounces as of last Wednesday. She's not as heavy as I thought she'd be, but she's healthy. Eating some solid food has put a little fat on her. It's pretty cute.

Josephine is sick today : ( Nathan was sick all weekend and still not really feeling well. I think Josephine may have had a fever this weekend, but we were outside in the heat so I didn't think much about her being warm. Her little eyes are so red, it's pitiful. She has a fever of around 100 degrees. She slept ok last night as long as I was holding her. I finally got to sleep around 6 this morning. She's in the swing right now--I hope she takes a nap soon.

Josephine is enjoying watching the World Cup this week. Nathan and I are working on a soccer chant for Josephine. She thinks we're weird.

Josephine Update:

• Josephine is rolling onto her back more often and having an easier time of it. She actually slept on her back this morning, snoring the whole time with her stuffy nose.
• She falls from sitting up onto her stomach. She only cries some of the time : ) She's usually going after a toy. Crawling will be a skill she masters within the next couple months.
• Josephine will fall asleep on our bed for naps now instead of me rocking her. I'm hoping it will transition to her falling asleep on her own in her crib. She just cries when I put her in her crib now. Time will tell.

6 Months on 6-6-06

Six months have already come and gone! She's grown up so much in such a short amount of time. I feel like it was only yesterday that she woke up five times during the night ... oh, wait, that was last night. Six months ago she woke up twice a night. Hmm. She's had a good birthday. We slept until 9:45 this morning after a decent night's sleep (for Josephine, anyway). Then we played for a couple hours before she ate some cereal and eggplant. She and Naomi had their pictures made this afternoon, and now she is talking up a storm while in the swing. Her six-month checkup with the doctor is tomorrow morning. More shots : ( But I'm anxious to see how much she weighs now.

• How much she loves her daddy
• Her alertness and curiosity of the world around her
• Her long, beautiful fingers
• Her love of the soccer ball
• Smiles first thing in the morning

• Sleeping longer at night
• First steps
• Blowing kisses
• Christmas (OK, that's 7 months, but that's ok)
• Playing with Drinnen and Naomi and all other new friends coming along
• Clapping

Josephine Update:

• Getting bigger ... I'll post her size after tomorrow's visit with the doctor.
• She's eaten peas and eggplant so far and likes them both, although rice cereal is her favorite. She'll get squash at the end of the week. She also loves water.
• I left her with my mom again on Monday and she did just fine. I'm planning on taking her again tomorrow.
• She's enjoying bathtime still. A couple of times she's dove head first for a toy while sitting in the tub. She seems to know when we reach for the soap ... but she hasn't freaked out about it. She hasn't been under the water for more than a quarter second anyway.

Big Step For Mom

It was a big day for Josephine and me. I left her with her Granny for about an hour this afternoon--it was the first time she had been babysat by anyone other than Nathan. I did better than I thought I would. The gym was a good diversion for me, I miss exercising. To top it all off, Josephine didn't even seem to care when I got back. Figures. Mom had her outside talking to the neighbor when I got there, which Josephine enjoyed. Apparently Snoops the cat was the only frustration of the afternoon (he wouldn't stay around to play). Working out needs to be more of a priority for me so I think I will try to do this 2-3 times a week. The pool is also open so some of those workouts may be substituted by that. We'll see.
