Red shoes, black shoes.

Josephine has done a few big things this week! She can say "red shoes" and "black shoes". Shoes have always been a favorite item. She has also started spinning around the living room. It's very funny to watch. She gets dizzy after a couple of spins, falls down, then get backs up to spin some more. Also, to her parent's great delight, Josephine dribbled the soccer ball across the living room! She doesn't give it a big kick, she kicks it softly and chases after it. We are very proud.

Naomi is spending most of the day with us today. Here are some pictures of the two of them.

Josephine trying to get into Naomi's car seat with her. Naomi isn't too sure about that.

Josephine likes to share her toys with Naomi so she put all the toys Naomi was playing with in the carseat.

Valentine's Day 2007

Josephine had a good Valentine's Day this year. She spent the afternoon with Granna while Mom had a root canal done (no comments, please). We went to the Little Gym that evening where she wet her pants then later on fell and took off a scab on her nose. (She fell on the driveway nose-first on Tuesday.) We spent about a quarter of the class in the bathroom. She had fun otherwise, though. Grannie and Papaw stopped by on their search for a restaurant. We all went to Chili's afterward. Here are some pictures of Josephine on Valentine's Day and her scraped nose.

Josephine sitting in the chair Nathan got for her for Valentine's Day. The cat was a present from Nathan too.

Naomi played with us Sunday night. She's sitting up and getting ready to crawl now. She and Josephine played well together. Josephine's not quite as aggressive with her love as she has been. Plus, Naomi is getting more sturdy.

Josephine loved the ribbon that came with her present from Grannie (a book). She's been wearing it as a necklace ever since.

Naomi at 8 1/2 months. She and Josephine had a bath and I apparently didn't brush her hair the right way when it was still wet. It usually lays over the side instead of looking like an onion sprout. It's very cute, though. : )

Josephine Update:

JOSEPHINE FINALLY SAID "MOM"! She won't say it on a regular basis, but she finally said it. Days before saying "mom" she said "yellow", "blue", and "red". The first two she said perfectly, but "red" was a little harder to understand. Weird, huh? And, yes, she knows all three of those colors.
  • Josephine drank from a straw last night. We've been trying to get her to do that for a long time.
  • Josephine will shake you hand now if you ask her to. She's been giving high-fives for a long time, but Nathan taught her to shake people's hand.
  • Other colors she knows (other than red, blue, and yellow) are brown and black. Sometimes green.
  • Josephine can moo when she sees a cow. She can also make the sheep, goat, and horse sounds. She tries to make a god sound, but not it doesn't come out right.
  • Josephine has a new face she makes. It's very similar to a fish-face, but only with the top lip. It's very cute.

Georgia Aquarium

Josephine, Nathan, and I went to Altlanta with the Randolph's this weekend to visit Greg and Meredith and to see the Georgia Aquarium. I think everyone had a great time. The aquarium was very nice with several different areas to see. The whale sharks, beluga whales, and the jellyfish were my favorites. Josephine seemed to like all of them that she stayed awake for. Drinnen took a nap too. I took video instead of pictures most of the time at the aquarium. I'll put up a video if I find a good one later on. www.georgiaaquarium.com

Josephine fell asleep on the last section of the aquarium.

We spent the rest of Saturday and Sunday morning playing at Greg and Meredith's. The kids had a blast playing together. I don't think Josephine has ever had that much fun. She played with all three of the Randolph kids.

Josephine, Elizabeth, and Emily watching "Madagascar". They danced during "Move It" then went off and did other things. : )

This is the only time I remember Josephine crying all weekend. It was time for a nap, anyway. I think she was upset that Drinnen was touching her beloved seat. Like I said, it was naptime.

Josephine Update:
  • Josephine will consistently go down the stair the "right" way. Greg & Meredith's house was a split level and had two stairs in the middle of the kid's play area. It took about 24 hours, but Josephine finally got the picture to go down backwards after falling on her face a few times. I thought she was going to have a shiner one time, but it was mostly carpet burn instead of a bruise.
  • Josephine weighs 19 lbs., 4 oz. now. We weighed all the kids while we were down there. Drinnen is exactly 4 pounds heavier than Josephine. He's 9 months old. Josephine is 14 months old tomorrow.
  • Josephine says "ball" very well now. "Ball" and "dad" are pretty much the only words she'll say now, other than animal sounds.
  • She'll show you what a beaver does when you ask her. She means to stick out her front two teeth and move them, but she mostly just smiles and smacks her lips together. Very cute.

Thank you Greg & Meredith for having us this weekend!
