How do they know?

How do they know . . .

• when you have just sat down with your food ready to eat?
• when you have just sat down in the tub for a nice bath?
• when you have just put them in a beautiful white outfit?
• when you are still reaching for the burb cloth?
• when you have just pressed "send" on your cell phone?

. . . babies are smarter than they look . . . .

Josephine Update:

• She stands up whenever you hold her and will stand for minutes at a time.
• She has "mommy-itis" and doesn't always like other people to hold her, especially if she's tired. This hurts Dad's feelings . . . : (
• She smiles almost every time she wakes up . . . almost.
• She can find Mom and Dad in the mirror, but doesn't recognize herself (duh), and gets confused.
• We're still waiting on her to find her hands.

In the first month of pregnancy my baby gave to me

In the second month of pregnancy my baby gave to me

In the third month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
An expanding waist

In the fourth month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
Strange food cravings

In the fifth month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
The color pink

In the sixth month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
Long nails and hair

In the seventh month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
Doubled cup size

In the eighth month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
A waddle like a duck

In the ninth month of pregnancy my baby took from me
A cute bellybutton

In the tenth month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
Ferocious labor pains

In the eleventh month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
No sleeping nights

In the twelfth month of pregnancy my baby gave to me
A dry cleaning bill

Josephine update:
*She smiles at us every day now.
*She sleeps in her temporary bed (the pack and play in our bedroom) on her stomach now instead of in the car seat. One step closer to moving into her own room. I'm not ready for that yet, though . . . .

Here are some pictures we got done last Friday at Portrait Innovations.

Josephine update: 1. She had her first bottle yesterday. 2. She fell asleep by herself on the floor for the first time today. (You understand if you have kids how these little things can be so exciting. : )

Josephine is one month old!

Josephine will be one month old tomorrow! We're going to have a family picture done tomorrow too. Nathan and I are so happy to have Josephine as part of our family.

We had a great first Christmas with Josephine. She is the best Christmas present we've ever gotten. We spent Christmas Eve at the farm with Nathan's family and Christmas Day at the Moore's. It was the first chance for most of our extended family to meet Josephine. I believe she was a hit : ).

Josephine's favorite things:

1. Daddy
2. The Boob
3. Christmas tree lights
4. The passy

Josephine's least favorite things:

1. Falling asleep
2. Being cold (although this is getting better)
3. The flash of mommy's camera

Things about Josephine that Mommy and Daddy are proud of:

1. How strong she is. She held her head up and pushed herself up with her arms the day she was born.
2. How smart she is. She's very alert, always looking directly at people and/or objects.

Speaking of Josephine, she's screaming to keep herself awake. I will have to post some more later.
