August 2010

August flew by this year! Here are a few pictures. Josephine started school at Mead Montessori and Ada started the fall Mother's Day Out Program at Lyon's Creek Baptist. That makes for some busy mornings with each girl going to a different place, but they all enjoy their own time. At the end of this I'll update on doctor's visits and 2 yr / 4 mo stats.

Josephine with Suzannah in the Storm Trooper helmet. Poor Suzannah . . . I'm sure this is only the beginning.

Ada in the Storm Trooper helmet. Or is this Josephine? I'm pretty sure it's Ada . . . .

Josephine playing at my company picnic at the pool.

. . . and Papaw wasn't planning on getting in the pool . . . .

Proud big sister Ada with Suzannah.

Nathan dyed Josephine and Ada's hair with food coloring. Josephine's came out the first wash. Ada's is still red a month later.

Josephine on her first day of school. They use baskets instead of lunch boxes and bring their own glass plates and cups. Josephine gets her own basket ready every day. She gets most of her lunch in there most days.

Josephine hasn't had any doctor's appointments lately, but we know that she weighs 42 lbs and is 43 inches tall. She's taller than 90% of kids her age. She's in a class with 3-5 year olds. She looks so big next to the younger ones.
Ada, on the other hand, is small for her age. She's about 25 pounds and 34 inches tall. We took her to a pediatric cardiologist last month because of her heart murmur. After the tests, he said that it was an "innocent" heart murmur and there was nothing to worry about. Ada did an amazing job at that appointment. She let them do all the tests (EEG, ultrasound) with abosolutely no fuss. She had a frown most of the time, but she did everythng they told her to do. I was so proud of her. The doctor noticed a white mark (ash leaf mark) on Ada's stomach and we mentioned that Josephine had one on her leg. Those marks can be a symptom of tuberous sclerosis so we're taking Jo and Ada to a geneticist in February to have them teste for it. Those marks seem to be the only outward symtoms either of them have (Ada had no tumors on her heart), so if they do have it, it is very likely a very mild case. I'll update next February. Otherwise, Ada is a healthy 2 year old!
Suzannah is 4 1/2 month old now. At her 4 month checkup she was 11 lb. 6 oz. and I can't remember how long. She was weighed and measured yesterday (2 weeks later) and she weighed 12 lbs 6 oz and was 24 inches long. She's done a lot of growing this month! I had to take her to physical therapy yesterday because she has torticollis (head tilt due to tightened neck muscles on the left side). It should only take a couple months of exercises to correct. It's improved in the past 2 weeks since we realized what was wrong. She has a cold right now, but it should pass quickly. She is a really easy, happy baby. She can't roll over yet, but she is working on sitting up. She tends to lean forward too much if we leave her alone to sit, but she does great in the Pod/Bumbo thing.
My time is up. I'll update again next month. Josephine starts soccer this month!!!
