Josephine went to the doctor today to get more immunizations and weighed in at 18 pounds, 10 oz. and 29 1/4" long.
Now that Josephine is officially a toddler, she is making quite a big mess most of the time! Here are some pictures of her recent messes.
Josephine got ahold of the bag of Cheerios and dumped them on the floor.
This wasn't really a mess, but it is still noteworthy. Nathan had a small loaf of bread and put it on the table and left the room for a minute. When he came back Josephine had started eating it. She ate most of the loaf of bread. Nathan took a small piece and Josephine screamed.
We introduced crayons last week. We couldn't get her to color with them, but she loved taking them out of the box and putting them back in. She only put them in her mouth a couple of times.
Last week, Josephine and I took a trip to middle Tennessee to visit some friends and family. Josephine did great riding in the car so much. We drove to Hillsboro/Winchester Thursday morning to visit Jane and Bryan, then to Columbia that afternoon to see Aunt Leah, then to Nashville to have dinner with Kevin, then back to Columbia to spend the night with Aunt Leah and Uncle Brian. After lunch on Friday, we drove back home. It was about a 650-mile trip. Josephine didn't cry at all until about 10 miles before we got home. We were tired, but we had a great trip. It was good to see everyone!
I am still working on putting a video on the web of Josephine. I tried for over an hour today to use google video, but it is taking a very long time to upload. Hopefully later today I'll get it up and post a link (or whatever I need to do, I've never used this service before).
Josephine Update:
- Josephine still has a passion for books. She spends over half of her "playtime" looking at books. Animals are still her favorite subjects.
- Josephine is walking full time now. It's very cute to watch.
- She has decided to stop breastfeeding this past week. "They" say that kids will decide when they're ready to stop so I guess "they" are right. The only problem is that she won't drink milk or formula or water, leaving only juice. Hopefully she will start drinking milk soon.
- She is learning her colors. She knows red and green for sure, I don't know about the others yet. We're still in the beginning stages of the testing : )
- When I am rocking her to sleep (yes, I'm still rocking) I usually sing to her. She knows when a song is finished (and not just the end of one verse) and will say a short "hm" telling me to hurry up and start the next song. If it takes me a few seconds to think of a new song she keeps saying "hm" with a little more emphasis each time. Talk about pressure to perform . . . .
- She is doing better about sleeping through the night. She has her good and bad phases, but she's been having more good phases lately.
- Her hair is getting long (as you can tell from the pictures), but there's not much that can be done with it. If you try to put a bow in her hair she freaks out. (She can't see what you're doing and it drives her crazy.)
- She helps you put on her shoes, socks, and pants. When she's in a good mood, anyway. She lifts up her foot for you to put on her shoes and socks. If there are a pair of pants on the floor, she'll go sit next to them and try to put them on her feet. It never works but it's cute. She eventually gives up on putting the pants on her feet and puts the pants back behind her neck and wears them like a scarf. That is also very cute.
- She can sit down in her seat all by herself. We didn't get a high chair, we just use a travel booster seat that has a tray (it was a great purchase and much cheaper than a high chair!), and if we put it on the floor, Josephine can sit in it on her own.
- Josephine will wave bye-bye now. She used to only do hello. Now, when she's ready to leave, she'll point at the door and wave bye.
- She has no problem with me leaving her with her grandparents or at church. I'll tell her goodbye and she'll wave and usually go back to reading her book. Sometimes she won't even come to me when I'm picking her up, she'll want to stay with whoever she's with.
- I know I've said this before, but Josephine loves to watch sports! She gets so excited when she sees football on tv--she raises her hands for "touchdown!". She does the same for basketball too when they hit the 3-point shot. She and I are going to a Lady Vols game tomorrow night, so she'll be entertained : ).
- She has always been obsessessed with lights. Now she puts her eyes up right next to the light. She has some toys that light up and she puts them right up to her eyes. None of the lights are bright enough to hurt her eyes. It's very cute.
That should be enough updates for now : ) I will post the video or link as soon as I can. (It's of Josephine and Nathan reading a book and Josephine's reaction to the question "What does a rabbit do?".)
