Thaxton and Nashville

Thaxton Falco was born on August 2 weighing in at 6lb. 4oz.! Here is a picture of our first visit to see Thaxton. Daddies and their babies. Both Mom and baby are doing well. I forgot my camera so I stole a picture from Thaxton's site. His address is http://www.thaxtonpaul.blogspot.com.

We went to Nashville this weekend to visit Aunt Leah and Uncle Brian. Josephine and Naomi were excited to see each other (sounds cute, but I'm serious : ). Josephine will give "kisses" with her forehead sometimes (which is what she is doing in the picture). She is very gentle with Naomi. We had alot of good family time this weekend.

My favorite time last weekend is Sunday morning. I brought Josephine to bed with us early in the morning because I didn't have a rocker to put her back to sleep. A few hours later I woke up. A few minutes later Josephine woke up and was playing with the blanket. Naomi, Aunt Moug, and Granna were sleeping on the air mattress on the floor next to us. Josephine heard Noami make a noise and crawled over me to see what it was. She looked down and saw Naomi and got a huge smile on her face, she was so excited to see her. A minute later Nathan rolled over so Josephine turned around to the noise and noticed that Nathan was there with us. She got another huge smile and quickly crawled over to him and started playing with his hair. A minute later Granna got out of bed and Josephine turned to see what the noise was. She saw Granna and had another big smile. Then we got out of bed and went to the kitchen where Leah and Brian were. Josephine got excited again when she saw Leah, she practically jumped out of my arms to get to her. Josephine is such a sweet baby in the morning. She makes my mornings so wonderful.

Jospehine Update:

  • Josephine is getting quicker at pulling herself up on the furniture and people. She's getting brave enough to go from one thing to another. She's figured out how to lean on the coffee table and use both her hands to play with whatever "toy" she's found.
  • She's still not saying any words, even though we're working on it. She's making a wider variety of sounds, though.
  • Josephine likes to scratch everything. She likes the sound it makes. It's often the first sound I hear in the morning--she always scratches her cribsheet when she wakes up. She only scratches if it makes noise.
  • I don't know if I've mentioned before, but Josephine always puts her hand in your mouth when she's sleepy. She used to pull my hair all the time until I cut it so now she grabs my lower lip. I have to make sure her nails are kept short! That's how she falls asleep every night--in the rocker with her hand in my mouth. The nights that it takes her awhile to fall asleep can get a bit annoying. She keeps rubbing and rubbing the inside of my mouth. It's still better than how she used to pull my hair out trying to go to sleep.
  • Yes, I still rock her to sleep for both naps and nighttime. There are alot of people and articles out there saying babies need to fall asleep on their own. I enjoy putting her to sleep. I feel bad enough leaving her in her own room upstairs all night. We don't get much cuddle time anymore because she's always playing on the floor and when we are holding her, she's crawling all over us and being rather aggressive with her kisses. There will come a day that she will want to go to sleep on her own. So for now, we'll rock.

Here are some other pictures of Josephine and her friends. One of her favorite toys is still Nathan's keyboard. We went to the park with Elizabeth, Emily, and Drinnen a few weeks ago.

I can't to see yall this weekend. I didn't know what to do without Josephine and Naomi in the Nursery. Most of the time it was just Daniel Kidder there, although he was hilarious to watch. Amy came up for awhile Sunday, but that was it. Josephine will have to show me all of her new tricks Sunday.
